More Than a Statistic | Series 3
In this web series, we explore the intersection of domestic violence, mental health, systemic racism, and community support in Black and Brown communities, while highlighting personal survivor stories, the impact of trauma, and the role of allies in breaking the cycle of violence.
Disproportionate Impact: Nearly 45% of Black women experience some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
Homicide Risk: Black women are killed by partners at nearly twice the rate of white women.
Health Impacts: Survivors of domestic violence in these communities are at higher risk for PTSD and other chronic illnesses.
Trigger Warning: This series discusses violence toward the Black and Brown Community that may be difficult for some viewers. We encourage those who have experienced trauma or violence because of their sexuality to view with a loved one. A loved one can read through discussion questions beforehand to make sure there are no triggers highlighted in this series.
